August Meeting

Thanks to everyone who came out last night to the uke meeting (there were 12 of us - whoo-hoo! biggest crowd yet), once again it was a lot of fun. I won't go into a lot of detail here about the meeting because Meeting Minutes can now be found on the NUkeS website www.nashukes.bravehost.com
New to the website is the Gallery page which has photos from the meeting last night. Check it out.
And if you missed the meeting you missed an incredible version of 'Stardust' which was performed by Harry Imoto who drove all the way down here from Clarksville for the meeting.
And stay tuned for more information about movie night at Mary & Andy's house which will hopefully feature NUkeS doing a couple of tunes as an opener.

Blue Hawaii

I thought I'd throw in my own photo, too. Earlier this summer, my family and I went down to Memphis for the Beale Street Music Festival. While we were there, we took the pilgrimage to Graceland. Since I carried Nani along with me (yes, I named my uke. It means "beautiful" in Hawai'ian), my son snapped this for me in front of Elvis' iron gates:

Looking forward to meeting everybody whenever I make it back to a Uke gathering!

A different type of uker - Jason Borshard

I really like this guys songwriting - he does all of his own recording and mixing. His first and second albums can be downloaded free of charge - the first one sounds a little low-tech but I like that sound. My favorite tunes are "Brains Brains" and "The Ship is Real"- listen to the lyrics on "The Ship is Real" and you can tell he's a Star Trek fan. Of course the picture of him is a dead give away too. Check it out HERE.

Blog Changes

This blog has been altered a bit - it is now set up as a Team Blog so that we can all post on here and hopefully keep up with each other and what's happening in between uke meetings. Meeting Minutes and other NUkeS related info will be mainly on the new website www.nashukes.bravehost.com - it is still under construction but for the most part is up and running.
That's me in the photo above - if you've not made it to a meeting yet, that's the mug you'll want to look for at the next one.
Keep your ukulele in your hand!!
